The key to a solid case is getting all of the pieces square. But trying to balance wide workpieces on edge during assembly can really be a challenge. The stands you see here are the perfect solution. The simple design makes it easy to stand your workpieces on edge. I’ve made several of these stands in various sizes for supporting material of different thicknesses. The only change is the space between the supports.
Three small pieces of MDF are all you need to make the stands. The base has two dadoes cut parallel to each other and spaced for the thickness of the case material. The two vertical supports create a cradle to hold the workpieces upright. You may want to modify the height of the supports to work best for your projects. A couple of these handy helpers for each workpiece is all you need for that third hand during your next case assembly.
