When it comes to breaking down sheet goods, there’s certainly no shortage of ways to complete the task. But I was looking for a way that would utilize my Workmate bench without cutting into the worksurface. What I devised is the setup you see above. This method uses a C-channel made from a 2x6 for the base and some plywood scraps that act as risers. The risers are attached to the base with screws. I sized my pieces so they’re a couple feet longer than my Workmate.
Using it.
With the C-channel clamped in the Workmate, position the cut line so it straddles the opening and make the cut. A sawhorse or two provide additional support.
