The console was stained with two coats of Minwax’s Slate waterbased stain. The first coat was allowed to dry, and the second coat was wiped on more aggressively. Then a coat of General Finishes’ Glazed Effects in Van Dyke Brown was brushed on and wiped off. Excess glaze was intentionally left in some of the corners and profiled moldings to highlight those areas. Once it dried, two coats of lacquer were applied.
