It occurred to me that a palm router mounted in a table would be the perfect answer for making some thin molding. So I decided to build a table dedicated to my palm router. The question was, where to put the table. I’ve seen several plans for adding a router table to the extension wing of a table saw, but that wasn’t an option on my saw. However, it did get me thinking about other possibilities. The solution I came up with was to attach a router table to the table of my band saw. As an added bonus, it nearly doubled the surface area of the band saw table.
I started by assembling a hardwood frame to fit around the tabletop. I also cut dadoes in the frame to accommodate the miter gauge track. A plywood top fits into the frame. You can bolt the table in place using the band saw fence holes. This design has one more advantage: Since it’s taller than the average router table, it’s easier to work at without having to bend over.
