Since I don’t own a tool-actuated vacuum, using a tool with dust collection used to require turning on the tool and bending over to switch on the vacuum. But then I found a “smart” power strip at my local home center. It has master and master-controlled outlets that allow an electronic component and its accessories to be switched on and off together.
As it turns out, the same concept works in the shop, too. All you have to do is plug a tool into the master outlet and the vacuum into the master-controlled outlet to create a tool-actuated vacuum.
