Drill Press Hold-Down

By: Erich Lage
A Safe and Easy Way to Lock Down a Part of Any Size at your Drill Press

6 01 01 If you’re anything like me, holding parts at the drill press tends to be hard on your hands. After having a piece grab and spin around, I decided to make the simple clamping jig shown here. 6 01 03 Clamp Bar. As you can see in the photo, the hold-down is nothing more than a long piece of plywood with a hardboard cap glued on it. A slot in each end lines up with my T-track and is the attachment point to my drill press table. 6 01 05 Using it is just as simple as the construction. After positioning my workpiece, I can place the bar on top and clamp it down using the knobs. That way, the workpiece is held secure and my hands are out of the way.
